I was born and raised in a very secular part of Germany. In 2004, when I came to the U.S. for college, I fell in love with the culture, the people and, most of all, with the Lord. I developed a personal passion for drawing attention to the little things in life and to the less fortunate among us. Over the years, I grew in my faith and lived out my passion by volunteering at non-profit organizations, being a youth group leader, and functioning as a mentor for troubled youth. Now I feel called to go out into the world and to carry my Christian love further. At the end of 2010, I have moved back to Germany to help my parents around the house for a couple of months before I will be going on a mission trip in April 2011 with “Youth with a Mission” (YWAM): The PhotogenX DTS. This program consists of a 3-month Lecture Phase at the YWAM base in Kona, Hawaii, and a 3-month Outreach Phase in several areas of either South Africa or South America. During the Lecture Phase, the DTS students receive excellent discipleship and missionary training, as well as professional education in Photography. The purpose of this program is to use the art of photography as a medium to raise funds for the less fortunate in other countries by raising awareness in the Western world. Therefore, the PhotogenX DTS can be seen as a bridge, rather than a destination.
About 6 1/2 years ago I would have never imagined myself going on a mission trip or even working at a Christian organization. To be honest, back then I did not even know that "active Christians" exist in our times - or what it actually means to live a "Christian lifestyle". Much has happened since. Often my life has been a roller coaster ride, even more so after I have become a Christian. God has lead me through many ups and many downs. But one thing I know for sure: He has never let me down!

Looking back at my life, I feel like a great example of what God's amazing love can do to you and how far He is willing to take you if you are willing to take heart and follow His calling...
